Gifts For Outdoor Adventurers

It is the gift that gets a genuine reaction, because it is obviously the right thing and obviously the thing they had been meaning to sort out.

The SURVIVAL Snake Bite KIT carries a SMART Bandage with a pictogram printed along it that changes from a rectangle to a square when the tension is right, so the person applying it can see the pressure is correct instead of guessing. It also holds a splint, a tick spoon, an emergency blanket and a whistle.

FOR THE ONE WHO COUNTS GRAMS

The SURVIVAL Hiking First Aid KIT is 515 grams, which is less than the water they drink in the first hour. It is built around what actually goes wrong on a walk rather than a generic list.

The SURVIVAL Slimline First Aid KIT is the flatter option at 4cm thick, for someone whose problem is pack space rather than weight.

SMALL AND GENUINELY USEFUL

The SMART Bandage on its own is a good small gift, and it is recommended to carry two anyway.

The SURVIVAL Handy First Aid KIT is 535 grams and, despite the size, carries a SMART Snake Bandage and a Pocket CPR KIT. That is not a token kit.

THE BIG ONE

The Outdoor Bundle (Gen 8) pairs a full KIT with snake bite capability, which is the combination that actually covers a trip. The Camping First Aid Bundle is the equivalent for someone who camps more than they walk.

The Snake Bite First Aid Bundle pairs the Snake Bite KIT with a Compact KIT and a Wallet, which suits someone who wants one thing on them and one in the car.

HOW TO PICK WITHOUT ASKING THEM

Work out how far from a road they usually go. Day walks and drive-in camping means a compact KIT is plenty. Multi-day, remote or off-grid means depth matters more than weight, and the bundles are the better call.
