The Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice sets out what that means in practice, and most states and territories have adopted it. An office is generally treated as a low risk workplace, so the requirement is lighter than a construction site, but it is not nothing and it scales with headcount.

THE INJURIES AN OFFICE ACTUALLY PRODUCES

Paper cuts and headaches are what people expect. What actually turns up is burns from the kitchen, slips on wet floors, cuts from the guillotine or a box cutter, and medical episodes that have nothing to do with the work.

That last category is the important one. Cardiac events, allergic reactions, diabetic episodes and seizures happen at work because people spend a third of their life there.

CPR IS THE ONE THAT MATTERS

A cardiac arrest in an office is survivable if someone starts compressions immediately, and most people hesitate because of the mouth-to-mouth.
