High Risk Workplace

Under the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice, a higher risk workplace needs more first aid provision than a low risk one, and the specifics depend on your state, your headcount, your hazards and how far you are from emergency services.

CATASTROPHIC BLEEDING IS THE PRIORITY

Everything else in a high risk KIT is secondary. A crush injury, a degloving, a saw or auger injury can be fatal well inside an ambulance response time.

REMOTE AND ISOLATED WORK

Being high risk and being remote compound each other.

SNAKES ARE A WORKPLACE HAZARD

On a construction site with cleared ground, on a farm, in forestry or anywhere with long grass and stockpiled material, snake bite is a genuine work hazard rather than a bush story.
