They solve different problems and plenty of people carry both.
An insulated bottle keeps what you put in it at the temperature you put it in at. That is the everyday one, for the car, the office and the worksite.
A filter bottle lets you drink from a source you do not trust. That is the one that lives in the pack or the four wheel drive for the trips where you cannot be sure there will be a tap.
